About Abbey Atelier
Alongside commissioned work, the practice continues to explore contemporary interpretations of Persian mirror work, bringing traditional craftsmanship into a sculptural and architectural context.
where did we start?
My work begins with a simple contradiction: a mirror is an object we look at, but it is also an object that looks back.
At Abbey Atelier, I use mirror as more than a reflective surface. I see it as a material that can interrupt, extend and reframe space. A mirror can make architecture disappear, double a room, capture a passing movement or place the viewer inside the work itself. Unlike a static image, it is never complete; it changes continuously with light, place and presence.
Design Rooted in tradition
I Innovate And Bring New Possibilities In The Interior Design Of Each House
My practice draws on the traditional Persian technique of Ayneh Kari (mirror work), reinterpreted through a contemporary and sculptural approach. I work primarily on wood and canvas, building the surface before applying hand-cut mirror. Using an Almas diamond cutter, I cut each mirror fragment individually with controlled, precise techniques, shaping the pieces to form geometric, fluid and irregular compositions.
